I couldn't have been more excited to see PNC Park. The Cubbies were in a pennant race, it was a sunny September Saturday, and ESPN had just ranked PNC as the best ballpark in the country. I'm partial to Yankee Stadium of course, but I might agree with ESPN here. The ballpark was beautiful in every sense; it was colorful, clean, architecturally comforting, and possessed perhaps the best panoramic view of a downtown from any stadium in America.

Although PNC Park was one of the newest ballparks in the major leagues, it evoked the timelessness of the national pasttime. The names and numbers of Honus Wagner, Willie Stargell, and Roberto Clemente adorned the classic facade, yet the scoreboard and big screen were as technologically advanced as any in the bigs. With the sublime city skyline looming just over the river, it was magnificent.
