| Leaving for Las Vegas on Valentine's Day, I wasn't sure which I was more excited for; Phish on Saturday and Sunday, or snowboarding the following week at Heavenly. The verdict is still out; both segments of the vacation were magical in their own right. But this year at Tahoe--my fourth year in a row visiting with Beth--somehow seemed more special than the rest. Maybe it was because my snowboarding skills reached a new level. Maybe it was because I was glowing from the Vegas Phish experience. Or maybe it was the engagement ring that was hidden in my fleece on the first day of boarding. |

Marcus, stranded in Vegas after the Phish shows due to monster east coast snowstorms, smartly decided to join us in northern Nevada, rather than lose his winnings during a continued stay in Sin City. Above center, he hits it up with Beth and I. Above left, Beth quenches her thirst on fresh powder. Above right, I'm on the phone with Jordan, coordinating a midday lunch plan. Later in the week Jordan joined us on the slopes and showed us a Heavenly Mountain secret: a hidden cave built between two trails. The cozy cave offered a great place to sit down and recharge. How do you get there? I can't say. But if you keep your eyes open, you may find yourself there. |
